Thank you so much for visiting my website!
How did this journey begin? I've always been passionate about holistic living and have always tried to find the safest most effective non-toxic health and skin care and natural remedies for my family. I became keenly aware of the ingredients in my skincare products when I was pregnant. I noticed that even companies that call themselves natural and organic, had many preservatives and other synthetic ingredients. The cosmetic and skincare industry is highly unregulated and many companies put profit over people's health. They try to cut corners and cost, extending shelf life with harmful preservatives. Why is this harmful? It takes only a matter of minutes for us to absorb what we apply to our skin. Children and babies in particular. I refused to use anything but pure high quality skincare. This is how The Herb Nurse began. We also take our products up a notch by using glass containers instead of plastic or tin for nearly of all our products now.
More About The Herb Nurse Founder- Educational Background and Experience
Although I have been passionate about holistic health and healing all my life, growing up, I was raised in a conventional family. As I got older, I knew I had to change my life by adapting a healthier lifestyle. Everyday, I practice a holistic lifestyle that incorporates some form of alternative health into the care for myself and my family. We enjoy exercise, whole real foods, meditation, yoga, reiki, herbs, chiropractic visits, acupuncture, massage, nutraceuticals, and essential oils.
My interest in health, healing, and science continued as an adult. This led me to become a RN and I graduated Magna Cum Laude with my Bachelors of Science in Nursing from University of Florida. I later became an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant.
As an IBCLC, I worked in my community offering in-home consults, breastfeeding classes, and holding support groups. My work as a lactation consultant furthered my interest in holistic health and alternative medicine. Many mothers are interested in more natural approaches to health, including myself. Having my own family further inspired my interests in holistic health. In 2018 I became a Certified Herbalist and Board Certified Holistic Health Practitioner (with the American Association of Drugless Practitioners) as well as a Cannabis Nurse and member of the American Cannabis Nurse Association.
I have 2 children that I nursed and practiced baby led weaning/extended breastfeeding with. I'm also a natural birth advocate, especially after experiencing my own traumatic birth followed by a successful VBAC. I was a volunteer for an international non-profit cesarean awareness group and helped to form our local chapter.
In addition, in 2016 I became certified Reiki Master. I am also a member of the American Holistic Nurses Association and continue to be a holistic health and natural living advocate. I am passionate about the benefits of CBD and have taken numerous hours of continuing education with the Medical Cannabis Institute for health care professionals to help educate my clients and customers on the proper use & benefits of CBD.
My children were both born with severe food intolerances and eczema. I used my knowledge of herbal remedies to help restore their health back to normal.
In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family, running, painting, and cooking.
